Professional Growing Information I think I may have started with combination pots a year or two before? In zone 9b, plants live through the winter if they don't drowned in spring. Last year I didn't do much but drag three 22" pots of Coral Red Superbena out to the front yard. Typically I cut the tips back over the course of spring until I have a refreshed plant. I don't allow them to start the year woody. I routinely fertilize with time release fertilizer. They bloomed all summer and were a beautiful back drop to the lawn. I can't imagine doing without this vibrant color. This year I am on the ball and they have company. Bubblegum, Silverberry, Black Cherry and Fuchsia petunias bloom next pot over. Giant old Diamond Frost® euphoria are behind. Euphoria with a little winter protection and no cutting back until spring last years. I really have too many. I like the gnarly little trunks that form on the old ones. Vertigo also live long here.

They have very large flowers and umbels. They are great in landscapes and containers. In landscapes, they are best used at the front of beds and they function as spillers in combination planters. Superbena are our most vigorous, heat tolerant, and mildew tolerant series. While always great in containers they are also fantastic in landscape beds. They can tolerate dry soils and lower fertility. Normally either an application of slow release fertilizer or amending with compost is enough to keep them happy and blooming in landscape beds. They shouldn't need to be trimmed back but can be given a "haircut" - a trim back - using a sharp pair of scissors or pruning shears at any time. While naturally well branched, trimming them back will encourage additional branching, fuller plants, and ultimately more flowers. I usually give them a very slight trim as I am transplanting to boost branching.
An application of fertilizer or compost on garden beds and regular fertilization of plants in pots will help ensure the best possible performance.
