I adore this subshrub, but it's the bumble bees that get the last say. The flowers are literally quivering from the bumble bee excitement which completely cover the shrub. Awesome. The glaucous blue foliage and mounding habit are icing. Oh, and long bloom time! Not sure why the zones don't include zone 8. I'm zone 8 in western Washington ('8b' in most years, but '8a' this winter), and it's been a spectacular performer for the last 5 years. They don't get supplemental summer water after establishment in full sun and free draining soil.
