    Features

Meet ‘Lily Pads’, the whimsical and lesser-known cousin to the fiddle leaf fig. ‘Lily Pads’ has large, heart-shaped, lily-pad like leaves of glossy green, adorned with distinctive veining and puckered edges. These decorative leaves attach to a main stem via long petioles, forming a broad, umbrella-like canopy. Thus, this plant is commonly known as the “Umbrella Fig Tree”. While less finicky than its fiddle leaf cousin, ‘Lily Pads’ does need plenty of bright light to keep its leaves large and to prevent legginess.

    Maintenance Notes:
    • For optimal performance, keep your Ficus at 60-85°F (15-29°C).
    • Be sure to position your Ficus away from cold drafts and forced air.
    • Ficuses thrive in bright, indirect light. They are not low light plants and should be placed near a window.  East- or west-facing windows are good choices.
    • Ficuses prefer to dry out some in between waterings. Allow the top 1-2 inches of soil to dry out before giving your Ficus a good soaking.
    • Feed your Ficus once per month at half strength when it is actively growing. Reduce frequency of fertilization in the winter months.
    • Protect furniture when watering & fertilizing
    • When repotting your Ficus, use all purpose potting mix with added orchid bark, perlite, and sand to ensure good drainage and plenty of nutrients.
    • This Ficus has broad leaves that should be dusted regularly to ensure it is photosynthesizing all the light it can get.
