    Features

Conventional mock oranges look fabulous in bloom but don't have much to offer beyond that - until Illuminati Sparks mockorange (Philadelphus coronarius). Its lustrous green foliage is dotted with cheery yellow variegation for appeal that lasts early spring, summer, and beyond. Makes a very nice cut stem for foliage filler, as well as adding color and texture in the landscape. Fragrant white flowers in early summer.

If you wish to fertilize, one application of a granular rose or garden fertilizer in early spring is sufficient.

    Fun Facts:

The scientific name for mockorange, Philadelphus, translates to "brotherly love." The common name, mockorange, derives from the fragrance of the flowers, which does indeed resemble orange blossoms - even though this plant can grow in far colder climates than actual citrus.
