Do petunias grow back every year?

Most gardeners grow petunias as annuals and replant new plants each year. However, if you live in Zones 9-11 you may be able to get them to return.

Are petunias sun or shade?

For the most flowers grow petunias in full sun. They won't flower well in shade and can become leggy. 

What month is best to plant petunias?

Plant them in the spring months so that you can enjoy them for as long as possible. Do not plant seedlings until all threat of frost has passed in your area. In warm climates, this could be as early as January, but in cold climates, it could be as late as May.  

How many colors of petunias are there?

Petunias come in too many colors to count! Some of the most popular colors are pink, purple, white, red, and yellow. There are also types with multi-colored flowers. 

Do deer eat petunias?

Deer will occasionally eat petunias. Check with your local nursery or garden club to find out if they'll work in your area since deer palates vary regionally. If you want additional protection from deer, install deerproof fencing or apply repellent. 

Do hummingbirds like petunias?

Hummingbirds love the trumpet shape of petunias, especially those with red flowers. Plant them in a hanging basket to make them more visible from your windows.
