Yuki Cherry Blossom^® Deutzia x

This is an absolute stunner in the fall! I got it in the summer with bright green foliage but the fall colors are even better! I can't wait to see it bloom in the spring.

I planted this in zone 4 and this is the second year it has been in the ground. It bloomed beautifully this spring and survived the cold winter. We had a ton of snow this winter and temperatures in to -20 to -30 degrees (celsius). It is in sheltered spot along the side of the house and get morning/early afternoon sun, and then shade into mid afternoon. Don’t have it in the greatest of soil, decently sandy. Last year it died back partially, I pruned it back and this year it seems to have had a ton of new growth and filled in nicely. Currently have very hot dry weather so will see how it handles it. But so far am pleased with it, very beautiful colour and nice foliage.

Wow. this plant took off in my garden, which has a southern exposure -- zone 7 - NJ. It is more than 2' diameter after one year. Bigger than expected. I have to cut it back. Yikes!

I planted four of this deutzia in my full sun landscape. They looked gorgeous next to roses and dwarf boxwood. I live in Pennsylvania and we've had a wet year, but it appears that they couldn't handle the sun. They turned black and have a dry appearance, even with watering on dry days. Everything else is flourishing. I would love to incorporate the deutzia to a shadier area of my landscape in the future.
