Learn Best Practices for IGCs Using Social Media

Managing social media and understanding what works on each platform can be an overwhelming task. That’s especially true for many independent garden centers where the staff wears many hats, and marketing sometimes is the last thing on the to-do list for the day.

In our new Social Media Guide for IGCs, we’ll show you the basics of what you’ll need to know to succeed on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Pinterest and Twitter. We will cover best practices for each, common mistakes that are made by retailers, how brand ambassadors can fit into your content mix and much more.

This guide is being developed on a digital platform so that we can update it easily as social media practices and tools change. It will be easy to download and share with anyone on your staff who assists with social media, or share with an outside firm you might outsource your marketing to who might not be as familiar with the horticulture industry.

Using these best practices as a guide, coupled with the free photos and videos you have access to as a Connect+ member, you’ll be able to maximize the effectiveness of your social media marketing efforts.

How to Obtain this Asset:

Within a few days of becoming a paid Connect+ member, you will receive a link to Brandfolder which houses your Connect+ assets. This folder will be updated as the season progresses with additional assets. The Social Media Guide will be added to your Brandfolder in Winter 2023.
