I purchased this proven winner Empress Wu at a local nursery. I planted it in a current hosta garden that I have while working on expanding the Hosta garden. The Empress Wu took off and grew very quickly. The soil where it is planted is not very desirable, the the Wu does not seem to mind. The garden slugs have not attacked it as they have the other Hosta plants. Happy with the results for the first years planting.

I have had this hosta for 4 years and it never gets bigger than 6" tall and wide. It is certainly not the extra large hosta that it is advertised to be. After finally moving it, I found its roots are only about 1/2 " deep.

I just received this and another hosta in the mail, gallon size. None of the leaves were broken, but there was just a bag around the container, so half the soil had fallen out and the roots very disturbed. The leaves are a little yellow on the edges. Pretty disappointed that there were only 2 stems and six leaves for an almost $40 pot. I would have expected that from the cheaper, smaller size. Will update this review end of season or next year if the plant survives and comes back next year.

Planted 3 years ago and is the same size as the day it arrived. All other Hostas are doing great, but this one is a disappointment. Not even close to being a giant Hosta and in fact is the smallest one in my garden. Don't waste your money on this one.

On year 3 with several Proven Winners Empress Wu (label says shadowland Empress Wu). These are very disappointing. I have planted over 100 hostas in the past 2 years and Empress Wu is the only one that gets smaller each year... I have them planted in multiple locations with other hostas... all the other hostas are growing as expected. I left 3 of the Empress Wu in pots for the winter with over 20 other hostas... all 3 Empress Wu plants in pots died. Very unimpressed with this variety

I really enjoy this hosta, I currently have two in their second season and they getting huge. Just ordered 4 more because I don’t want to divide the original two at this point. Very happy with this plant and highly recommend.

Planted last year and did not come up this year at all. I have 7 other PW Hostas that are thriving, but this one just didn't make it through the winter I guess. Disappointing.
